Artist Statement
I am a student at Virginia Commonwealth University. My college major is Communication Arts, and I am pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in it. For my future career, I am currently not sure what I want to do: perhaps I want to try logo design or comic book design. I have been practicing with different kinds of mediums, but my strongest are Watercolor, Chalk Pastel, and surprisingly Oil. I fell in love with art, since I was three years old. Ever since then, I have continued to practice art throughout my years in school, trying to getting better and better. I also have a passion for nature, so I have incorporated that into my artwork, whether it would be landscapes, plants, and/or animals. Throughout college, I have been practicing art mediums that I am not very familiar with such as Inks, collage art, 3D art, oil, digital art, etc. Most of them, I have improved on. From present to future, I will find new and innovative ways to improve my art.
Bio
Isabella Benevente is an illustrator and portrait artist, whose work addresses the joy of nature and the remembrance/love of a pet. She was born and grew up in Williamsburg, Virginia. She studied at Virginia Commonwealth University and earned a Bachler’s Degree in the School of Arts.
“Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I’ve been trying to come up with a new theme for my artwork. That was until one of my neighbors asked if they could have me do a portrait of their dog. I haven’t really done a commission before and I really like pets, and since lockdown was among me, I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to do a pet portrait business.”
“From time to time, I will also do plein air art from locations of places I enjoy going to such as Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Jockey’s Ridge Kill Devil Hills, or a relatives house.
